Raise voluntary contributions
- All written solicitations for contributions to CWA-COPE PCC must include the
following printed disclaimer: "Contributions or gifts to CWA-COPE PCC are not
deductible as charitable contributions for Federal income tax purposes.
- Local Unions may not contribute voluntary funds raised for CWA-COPE PCC directly
to any federal candidate. Only CWA-COPE PCC may do that. If you wish to
request a contribution candidate for federal, local, or state office, contact your
District Legislative/Political Coordinator.
- You may not solicit voluntary contributions from anyone other than CWA members
and their families.
- You may not accept contributions for CWA-COPE PCC of the following types:
- Anonymous or unidentified
contributions in excess of $50.00.
- Cash contributions in excess of
$100.00.
- Any contribution of union treasury
funds.
- A check written by an individual on
behalf of another (also applies to spouses).

CWA-COPE treasury funds
- Local Unions may not contribute
voluntary funds raised for CWA-COPE PCC directly to any federal candidate. Only
CWA-COPE PCC may do that. If you wish to request a contribution candidate for
federal, local, or state office, contact your District Legislative/Political Coordinator.
- Treasury money "earmarked"
for COPE should be kept in a segregated non-interest bearing account.
- State laws change frequently.
Please contact your State Board of Elections regarding that status of the law in your
state before proceeding with state and local political activity.
- Political communications should be
restricted to local union members, retirees, and their families. Most states have
strict guidelines for this type of communication.
