Keeping the Records Straight

The union recommends that affiliates that have employees, and especially those affiliates that do not have a professional accounting staff, should engage the services of a payroll service, like Paychex or ADP, to perform payroll calculations and reporting. If you maintain your own payroll system, you will need to establish a system that will provide cumulative records for each employee for each calendar year, and make regular (usually quarterly) reports to both the federal and state government.
