Keeping the Records Straight
Overview

All locals that bargain for employees of the federal government or in the private sector, such as private schools, private hospitals, etc., are covered by the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (LMRDA or Landrum-Griffin), as amended and must file reports with the Department of Labor.  Every labor union subject to LMRDA must file a financial report, Form LM-2, LM-3, or LM-4, each year with the Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS) of the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment Standards Administration.   LM Reports are due within 90 days of the close of the fiscal year.
