As an elected or appointed Trustee or Audit Committee official you will play a key role in making sure that your unions funds and other assets are properly accounted for and solely used for the benefit of your union and its members. Your specific duties and responsibilities may be outlined in your unions constitution and bylaws. Your primary task as a Trustee or Audit Committee official is to ensure that all union resources are used for legitimate union purposes as authorized by your membership in accordance with the constitution and bylaws.
In addition, you should ensure that your union is properly submitting per capita dues to the International and is complying with legal requirements for financial reporting, record keeping, bonding, and loans.
