MUMS/2000 is the CWA Standard for Local Automation and assists with the following tasks:
The MUMS software was selected in 1984 as CWA International standard for membership management software for any CWA Local. The MUMS software enables locals to manage their own membership database and exchange data with the International in standard compatible format. In response to local requests and under the direction of the Secretary/Treasurer=s office a windows version of MUMS called MUMS/2000 was created and made available as of May 1998. Since that time many enhancements have been included based upon additional local requests and the desire to continue to automate the membership process. Some examples of the enhancements of MUMS/2000 have been to make every field element selectable, sortable and printable with an easy use report writer.
In 1999 computerized data capture and preparation of many of the forms was integrated into MUMS/2000.
In 2000, AFL-CIO COPE information via HQ CD-ROM was available for importing and improving MUMS/2000 databases. Also in 2000, COPE contributions received from members have been added to MUMS*LINK to be imported and posted into the locals MUMS/2000 database
The software has been designed to be flexible and easy to use while still maintaining international standards.
MUMS/2000 is a purchased software package from Van Elgort Information Systems and can be ordered from CWA HQ. For most CWA Locals financing is available. A free CD-ROM Tutorial is available which will give you 13 different demonstrations of MUMS/2000 features within 76 minutes.

CWA Locals can start their MUMS/2000 with a free initial load of data from Headquarters or convert their own DOS-MUMS data.
You still have the requirement to check your records monthly against the Monthly Membership Report for any discrepancies. See explanation in the Maintain Manual Records Section.
One aspect of the MUM/S2000 package is it allows you to accept updates electronically from the International each month. These updates are called MUMS*LINK and there is a nominal charge of $.01/ change record/ month for this service. These updates are shown on the Monthly Membership Report then copied to diskette and sent to you along with the report.
